"It is precisely in these moments that culture takes on an even more particular value. Quello of giving back hope, because words are an essential tool for dialogue and respect for others. And so, the work of a literary prize such as Campiello acquires an added value ". In difficult times like the present, it is with these words that the president of the Jury of Literature, Walter Veltroni, presented the five finalists of the Campiello Prize 2022, the contemporary Italian literature competition promoted by the Il Campiello Foundation - Confindustria Veneto.

Of the more than 350 books admitted to the competition by the Technical Committee, the following were selected: Antonio Pascale with “The fig leaf. Stories of trees, women, men " (Einaudi), Fabio Bacà with "Nova" (Adelphi), Daniela Ranieri with "Updated road map of all my kisses" (Bridge to Graces), Bernardo Zannoni with "My stupid intentions" (Sellerius), Elena Stancanelli with "The diver" (The ship of Theseus). Next appointment on 3 September, when the winner of the 60th edition of the Campiello Prize will be proclaimed at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The award ceremony will take place after the vote of a new jury, that of the three hundred Anonymous Readers who with their votes will decide the final result.

“Other nothing to report” by Francesca Valente wins the Campiello Opera Prima Prize

On the occasion of the presentation of the finalist Cinquina, the Literary Jury also announced the winner of the Campiello Opera Prima Award. This is the recognition given to an author since 2004 on his literary debut. This year the prize was awarded to Frances Valente with the title "Nothing else to report" (Einaudi). A look, as the motivation for the Award explains, on daily life in a psychiatry hospital ward. A book that opens “IDeep questions about the borderline between health and infirmity, between discomfort and contentment, between the closeness of the carers and the indifference of the world ".

The five finalist authors will present their works between June and July, touching Italy from north to south. In a calendar of meetings that will see them in Rome on June 23, in Parma on 28, in Vicenza on 29, in Cornuda in the province of Treviso on 30. On July 1 they will be in Bolzano, on 4 in Civitavecchia, on 12 and on 13 in the province of Lecce, respectively in Tricase and Gallipoli. Appointment on 14 July a Matera, on the 20th in Teramo, on the 28th at the Lido of Venice and on the 29th in Cortina. Last two stages on July 30th in Jesolo (Venice) and on July 31st in Asiago (Vicenza).

La final evening at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice it will be conducted by Francesca Fialdini, for the first time at Campiello. Fialdini, journalist, TV presenter, well-known face of Rai 1, will be joined by the singer and musician Lodo Guenzi. The evening will come broadcast live on Saturday 3 September on Rai 5 starting at 20.45pm. The three hundred Anonymous Readers, whose votes will decree the winner of this 60th edition of the Campiello Prize, have been selected throughout the country on the basis of social and professional categories. The rule is that they change every year, and that their names remain secret until the final evening and the announcement of the winner.
