On 26 August 1978 Albino Luciani becomes the Pope of charity and love

We certainly know that in the life of John Paul I the theme of charity is a recurring one. This is a theme particularly dear to Pope Luciani. So dear that his latest public release is dedicated to the hearing on charity. During the audience, the Pope spoke of the love we owe to God and neighbor. When Luciani speaks of love for one's neighbor, he indicates it as the twin brother of God. Furthermore, precisely on this last occasion of encounter with the faithful, a pivotal point of the preaching of Luciani's doctrine is manifested. The works of mercy must be updated in a new context. Thus, in this moment, the Pope takes out all his emotional charge. In fact, with transport, he almost reaches the emotion, when he quotes Paul VI in a part of the Populorum Progressio.

Perhaps a way for John Paul to free, above all, from business and profiteering, that Church he loved so much. While his death remains a mystery, today the cause of beatification continues. Therefore, the hope is to soon see Pope Luciani raised to the glory of the altars. One way to re-evaluate this charismatic figure. A leader who had little time, but who conquered the world with his smile.
