In Treviso, last farewell to Aldo Campeol, the owner of the historic restaurant “Alle Beccherie”, where tiramisu was born. Campeol, was 93 years old, Ado Campeol, and it was in his restaurant at the end of the 60s that the recipe for Tiramisu, the most famous spoon dessert in the world, was born. Today, in fact, tiramisu is a classic of pastry proposed in restaurants all over the planet. All kinds of tournaments and championships are also dedicated to its preparation; among these the "Tiramisu World Cup".

Aldo Campeol, 'father' of tiramisu

The Campeol family has never patented the invention of the famous and tasty dessert, claimed over the years by others as well. This has favored the genesis of various theses on the true origin of tiramisu and also on the originality of recipe che boasts many digressions on the subject. However, according to some historical sources, the first gastronome to write about tiramisu is Giuseppe Maffioli who, in 1981, confirmed its creation at the Beccherie. The recipe seems to have been born from the culinary imagination of Campeol's wife, Alba Di Pillo, and the chef Roberto Linguanotto.

Tiramisu

Only in 2010, the original preparation of the Beccherie was filed with a notarial deed at theItalian Academy of Cuisine. The enormous success obtained by the dessert, also well known abroad, has given rise to a commercial dispute over its paternity, in particular between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto. Il governor of Veneto Luca Zaia expressed his condolences for the disappearance of the well-known Treviso restaurateur. “With Aldo Campeol - said Zaia - Treviso loses another star in its food and wine history. His very long activity as a restaurateur, and his Beccherie, have gone through decades of the best Treviso tradition. A tradition made of hospitality and quality, and that polite smile that was never lacking on his face ".
