A story of friendship, love and humanity between two teenagers is the winning book of the first edition of the Campiello Junior literary prize. The writer Antonella Sbuelz won the prize with the book "I'm not going back tonight"(Feltrinelli). The announcement - the award ceremony will be held in Venice in September on the occasion of the Campiello Prize - during an event on the H-Farm Campus in Roncade in the province of Treviso. Of the three finalists, the winning book obtained 62 votes out of 146 sent by the popular jury, which was made up of children from the last year of primary schools and the three-year period of lower secondary schools. In second place she ranked Chiara Carminati with the book "A penguin in Trieste" (Bompiani) with 61 votes, the third Quarzo - Vivarelli with the book "The box of dreams" (Editorial Science) with 23 votes.

"This night I'm not going back" tells of the friendship, born almost by chance, between two young boys, Mattia and Aziz. Theirs is a nocturnal meeting, Mattia runs away from home and finds Aziz who has arrived in Italy after a long journey. He sleeps outside, near a hedge, he is alone and hungry. Here begins the story of their friendship. Mattia welcomes Aziz, who is Afghan, into his secret refuge, helps him, takes care of him and gets his story told. A story that seems apparently similar to many others and that instead will have unexpected implications. In fact, Aziz is not at all who he seems. Surprise ending.

The author, Antonella Sbuelz, was born and lives in Udine where he teaches Literature in a scientific high school. She has been writing since she was a child, as she explains in her profile, and after starting with poetry, she felt the need to tell stories. The Campiello Junior, for Italian works of fiction and poetry written for children between 10 and 14 years old, is the result of the collaboration between the Campiello Foundation and Pirelli, and was born with the idea of ​​bringing the very young closer to the love of reading and literature. And to give space, explains Enrico Carraro, president of Il Campiello Foundation and Confindustria Veneto, "To the talent of writers who dedicate themselves to fiction and poetry for children, thus contributing to their cultural growth and stimulating their creativity ". "An encounter between business and culture, between old and new generations”, Adds Maria Cristina Gribaudi, president of the Management Committee of the Award. With the aim, Antonio Calabrò, director of the Pirelli Foundation underlines, that children and young people "Let them learn quickly, as quickly as possible, the fruitful beauty of reading and therefore imagine, discover, plan. The jury of the Prize was chaired by the writer Roberto Piumini and composed of Chiara Lagani, Martino Negri, Michela Possamai, David Tolin.
