Luci d'Artista, Salerno is preparing for the great event that made it famous throughout the nation. The streets of the city will be lit up for celebration on December 17nd: around XNUMXpm the Christmas lights will come to life to the delight of residents and tourists.

But how did the Salerno event come about which, for some years, has also been copied in other cities of the Belpaese? It all started in Turin, from the fabulous suggestion for the installations created for the 2006 Winter Olympics. An initiative that greatly impressed the mayor of the time Vincenzo De Luca, today governor of Campania.
In practice, De Luca created a sort of 'bright twinning' between Salerno and Turin, which have both been capitals of Italy throughout their history. Every year the Luci d'Artista event is organized by Common with the support of the regional administration. For each edition, the organizers choose a theme for the light installations. From fairy tales for children, to local beauties and products. From the myths of the sea to Amalfi Coast and the Temples of Paestum.
An identity initiative
A continuous renewal of ideas also demonstrated by the multiple artistic changes of the very tall Christmas tree that stands out in Piazza Portanova every year. The mayor of Salerno, Enzo Napoli, this is how he expresses himself on the now imminent demonstration for the Christmas 2022. “Luci d'Artista is our identity initiative, for which we are known throughout Italy.
