It is now time for Christmas markets. They have floated around Italy for days, and in some cases for weeks. From the smallest to the gigantic ones that attract tourists from all over. This too, however, is not a Christmas like any other. It cannot be, considering theCovid-19 emergency still in place. There are therefore rules to be respected in order to access these magical places. Here's what to know to avoid being "at the door", unable to circulate among the many stalls.

Christmas markets in Italy

Almost two years have passed since the beginning of the restrictions on our freedom. It was March 2020 and the situation, although vastly improved, continues to be at risk. In the winter months the danger is greater, considering how our body is weakened by the low temperatures. For this reason, maximum attention is needed to experience the holidays in total serenity.

On the front of the Christmas markets it was decided to impose the obligation of outdoor masks in many cities of Italy. Checks have been increased, both in the streets of historic centers and on public transport, on which it is now possible to travel only with the Super Green Pass (vaccinated or cured with the first dose).

North part

Each region is autonomous, which leads us to make a division between north, center and south. TO Milano the market in Piazza Duomo can only be visited wearing a mask, trying to maintain a certain social distancing. The entrances are free, not limited, given the size of the area and the fact that it is all outdoors.

Different measures a Torino, where no event was organized in Piazza Castello. Mask also obliged to Bologna, as well as in Asti, where the Magical Christmas Village was organized. Yellow zone forSouth Tyrol, which, however, did not limit the markets. The Green Pass is expected but not the Super. Space, therefore, also for the subjects who carried out the swab. Obviously mandatory mask. Rules that apply to Bolzano, Merano, Bressanone, Vipiteno and Brunico.

Closed number, however, for Trento, admitting only 3 thousand people in the central square. Obligatory mask also in Verona among the markets of Piazza dei Signori, Cortile del Tribunale, Cortile Mercato Vecchio, Ponte Pietra and Ponte Castelvecchio.

Centro

Face mask also a Florence from 10 to 22 in areas with probable influx of people. Provision that will expire on December 31st. Instead, it will only be accessed with the Super Green Pass and the mask Viterbo Christmas Village, considering how it takes place in historic houses, therefore indoor places. On the other hand, “buffered” people are also allowed in the Assisi markets.

South

Il Matera Christmas Village it is the most popular in the south and does not require a Green Pass check. Spacing and mask will suffice. To the Castle of Limatola, in the province of Benevento, the QR Code must be shown for the visit, with a mandatory mask from 6 years upwards. Same rules also for the markets of Cagliari, between piazza Yenne, piazza del Carmine and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II.

Christmas markets in Europe

Outside the Italian borders there are many markets to visit at least once in a lifetime. In Croatia, a zagabria, the Green Pass is required, even if only with one dose of the vaccine. In the Czech Republic, on the other hand, the typical Christmas events were canceled, considering the state of emergency in progress.

In Denmarkinstead, Green Pass with vaccine or swab, so you can access a fairy place like Aarhus. A place full of period houses, so as to take a step back in time. In Germany, on the other hand, there was a split. In Bavaria and Saxony, the markets have been canceled. Instead, the one at Breitscheidplatz is back. TO Berlinfinally, only vaccinated and cured will be admitted to certain public events.
