The closing of schools was one of the first steps taken by the government to address theemergency of the coronavirus. The Minister of Education, Lucia Azzolina, put the project into action #schoolstop to support schools, teachers and pupils in this difficult path. And now, in view of a possible postponement of the reopening, we organize ourselves so as not to let the children miss a single lesson. The government has already allocated 85 million for distance learning and to these they were added immediately afterwards 8,2 million euro to enhance the project through the figure ofdigital animator. Each school will receive a contribution of 1000 € which can be used for the teacher training, also online, on innovative teaching methods.

Between lessons via Skype, video messages, tasks in the group chat… At home you risk going crazy. Both pupils and parents. To cope with the emergency and not suspend the path of learning, digital animators will be deployed and innovation teams that they will be able to share with their colleagues new educational technologies and experiment forms of distance learning.

The Ministry has also thought about intervening with precise directives. Azzolina immediately sent the operational indications for the activities of distance teaching, to offer clarification and support to all institutions. Among the topics covered:

  • What is meant by distance learning
  • Privacy
  • Activities planning
  • Attention to pupils with disabilities and special educational needs
  • Asset evaluation.

Also available is a thematic channel for inclusion via the web, created to support school managers and teachers in distance learning paths for pupils with disabilities. On the pages you can find regulatory references, share experiences or webinars. In the channel there will also be free certified platforms, made with contributions from private individuals, for distance learning. The channel will be constantly updated and enriched with new materials.

Twinning between institutions

Many experiences put in place from schools to deal with the emergency caused by the coronavirus. There are also many twinning between institutes for the exchange of good practices.

MIUR has decided to highlight these best practices, dedicating a space to them on Facebook page . of the Ministry. It will then be possible to interact, through the hashtag #schoolstop, its Instagram, posting stories and photos that will feed this story. Another objective of the MIUR is to take advantage of this social channel to put school institutions in contact. They will be testimonies of resilience and solidarity to demonstrate the desire to move forward.
