But above all it will remember the commitment and sacrifice of those who have worked and continue to commit themselves on the front line to face this emergency. Even at the cost of his own life. One is about to be minted new two euro coin (the cut also intended for celebratory purposes) dedicated to doctors and nurses. To all the health personnel who daily in hospital wards lend themselves to treat, assist, stay close to those affected by Covid-19. Thanks for their hard and risky work made of grueling hours, physical fatigue and psychological stress.
The announcement ofissue of the new coin in 2021 was published on the Official Gazette number 306 of last December 10th. A gesture of gratitude, so we read in the Journal, to all those "health professions" who from the very first moment found themselves facing the Coronavirus emergency. Often, especially at the beginning of the pandemic, with absolutely insufficient men and means and in situations that have put their own lives at risk. It should not be forgotten that since the beginning of the Coronavirus emergency 264 doctors have died due to Covid-19. The new two-euro coin depicts a man and a woman, he with a folder under his arm, she with a stethoscope around her neck. Both are in shirts and their faces are covered by a mask. Above is the word "THANK YOU" preceded and followed by a health cross and from a heart.
Three million two-euro coins dedicated to doctors and nurses
This is an important issue, especially from a symbolic point of view, to remember the Coronavirus also in this specific field. Doctors and nurses will be present on three million coins - which will have a regular course - for a total of six million euros. Given the large number of specimens expected, Italians and Europeans will be able to find themselves in possession of the new coins with a certain ease. In a few decades, however, they could become rare and collectible pieces. There France has already issued 310 thousand copies of commemorative coins dedicated to healthcare workers employed in the Covid departments. But in the case of the French it was immediately decided to make special issues to be distributed only to collectors in blister packs and boxes.
The minting of the new coin is an important tribute to the work of our doctors, nurses, paramedics. Preceded, the June 3 last, from an initiative of President Sergio Mattarella is conferred the honor of Cavalieri al Merito della Repubblica on a group of 57 citizens. Health personnel but also ordinary citizens who have particularly distinguished themselves in favor of the community in the Coronavirus emergency. In this sense, one cannot fail to remember an image, in the first weeks of the emergency, a symbol of the many heroes of Covid-19 in our country. The photo of that nurse from Cremona asleep on the desk, with the mask, in front of the computer keyboard, exhausted after a grueling shift, is still in everyone's eyes (and hearts).
