It is undeniable how the advent of the Covid-19 has changed our perception of life and our habits. Also travel it has become a big problem. Despite the various anticovid standards implemented by airline companies, many are afraid that the risk of contagion is always around the corner. Precisely for this reason, the IATA (International Air Transport Association) thought that a solution in this regard could be the release of a digital health passport, which allows you to travel in complete safety. With the arrival of vaccines it will in fact be essential to know if a passenger is at risk or can travel without problems.

IATA Travel Pass: how the digital health passport will work

Of this "health passport”, Renamed IATA Travel Passes, we have been talking for a few weeks now. It would essentially be an app that would certify the negativity to Covid-19 of the passenger about to board an airplane flight. Its operation is simple: first of all, in the digital health passport you can enter the passenger's health data. The same laboratories that will carry out the swabs or vaccine will upload their own on the app certificazione, which will then be impossible to fake. In addition, the passenger can add their own travel documents, to allow faster operations and "contactless"During the checks. In fact, it will be enough for the airport control staff scan the QR Code that is generated on the app to have access to all useful information. Finally, the passenger can also consult the list of laboratories to book a tampon and related information entry restrictions in the country you intend to travel to.

Already last November, IATA announced that the development of the digital health passport was in its own final stage. The application should in fact be available for free download already in early months of 2021. The IATA Travel Pass could therefore arrive at the same time as the app for the anticovid vaccine of the Italian government. Since both would serve to certify that a person has already been vaccinated against Covid-19 (Pfizer, Modern, AstraZeneca, etc.), it is not yet clear whether one will replace the other or the Italian government app could create problems when returning from a foreign country. To find out, we will have to wait a few more weeks and, above all, for the arrival of the first doses of anticovid vaccine in Italy.
