It finally happened, after 20 years and 18 seasons, Terence Hill, or Mario Girotti, leaves the set of “Don Matteo” for the last time. He shot his last scene, as announced for some time. He took off the cassock that accompanied him for years, put away his now iconic bicycle and yielded the baton to Raoul Bova. It will be these who will disturb and at the same time help the carabinieri of the small village in the delicate investigations carried out.
The public is divided in this regard, between those who believe that this will be the last season of the fiction, hoping very little for Bova, and those who instead want to trust the new course, while already regretting the good Terence Hill. But it was time to rest, to devote himself to his family and to the things he loves to do most. Staying in the spotlight at 82 isn't easy and after a 50-year career it's time to take a breather.
Don Matteo 18, what do we know
There is every intention to continue for years on the set of "Don Matteo" (the series will change its name from season 19?). The hope is that Don Massimo can enter the hearts of Italians, who know Raoul Bova well. Starting from the fourth episode of the eighteenth season Don Massimo will be introduced. A name chosen by the actor himself. Terence Hill expressed himself enthusiastically, explaining how he was the only one who could replace him. There will be two big news. The new priest will tour the streets of the town on a motorbike and will not wear the cassock: “This witness is coming to me at great speed - has explained Bova - and I hope to give my best to win ”.
For a legend that goes away, a cute character is ready to make his return. This is the Captain Anceschi, played by Flavio Insinna. At his side, however, there will not be Milena Miconi, or Laura Respighi. Anceschi had managed to conquer it after so many adventures and now? The two broke up and will there be room for the Captain for a new love story?
