Elena Baraldi, a thirty-year-old nurse from Modena, is the first Italian to be vaccinated by # Covid-19. Apparently, Elena safely carried the arm to his colleague, aware of experiencing "a great opportunity". Falling into the category of high-risk operators; Baraldi was immediately vaccinated without hesitation, to avoid the danger of being a vehicle of contagion.

Having left in 2014 because she could not find a permanent job in Italy, Elena, knowing English well, sought employment abroad. The high Italian training immediately made her open the doors wide. As has happened for other colleagues previously, she was immediately hired at St. George's Hospital. At the beginning he wanted to stay for six months, which then became 6 years completely flown by.

Today, working in the emergency room at Croydon University Hospital in London; the Baraldi, was able to immediately receive the coveted serum of Pfizer. Later, interviewed, she said she had full faith in the vaccine, because it means hope. It is a simple gesture, but one that can protect not only those who receive the drug, but also patient friends and family. Given the international pandemic and the vaccination campaign only at the beginning; and her frontline job, Elena is aware that she won't be able to hug her family again anytime soon.

In any case, now the vaccine is the only solution, and the only way to go safely. Elena Baraldi, is an "emergency nurse"; a specific figure that does not yet exist in Italy. She specializes in red codes, so for months she has been dealing with the most serious Covid patients. Specifically, it starts the ventilations, and manages the use of the helmet for oxygen.

Elena knows the emergency well, being used to seeing all kinds of critically ill patients on the front line, yet he claimed that he had never seen a disease like Covid before. Our compatriot sees the awareness of the danger in the eyes of the sick, among whom many do not make it, and among those who survive, there can be very serious side effects. In England there are restrictions, but they are calibrated according to the capacity of intensive care, as our compatriot experiences on a daily basis.

First Italian vaccinated by # Covid19

Unlike Italy, there has never been a real lockdown in the UK. In the first phase, according to Elena, the British government could have done better by looking at the Italian model. In the last year, Baraldi has unfortunately also seen many young people die. A colleague of hers without pathologies and quite young did not make it. This virus seems unpredictable; because in some, due to abnormal immune reactions, it can lead to aggravation unexpected.
The nurse from Modena had only a little pain after the coveted injection in a country that is in full second wave. Baraldi feels very appreciated and is very satisfied with how she can work. The salary is quite high and allows her to have a good standard of living and to save money, which was not possible in Italy.

Vaccination campaign in England

Elena does not hide the fact that she would love to return to her homeland, and she misses Modena, however, where she works, the hospital pays her a respectable master's degree. In London she feels fulfilled, her professionalism is very satisfied, and not only from an economic point of view. In the UK the rights for a nurse are very many and Baraldi would like the same for her colleagues in Italy. Risking your life, it is right that professionalism is fully recognized. However, with hope we must take the vaccine path, considering that many survivors have major aftermaths such as kidney, lung or neurological problems, even permanent ones.
