The victory of the Moonlight atEuro Vision Song Contest 2021 with the now famous "Shut up and good”Was a source of pride for the whole of Italy. Immediately after the party, however, a question arose: where Eurovision 2022 will be held? The Italian cities to apply to host the European singing event next May were in all 17, but only 5 of these have reached the final stage of the selection: Torino, Milano, Pesaro, Bologna e Rimini. Roma, hometown of band composed by Damian David, Victoria DeAngelis, Thomas Rays e Ethan Torchio, stayed out of the game. Like Rome, other great excluded ones were: Acireale, Alexandria, GenoVa, Palazzolo Acreide e Sanremo.
Eurovision 2022: the exclusion of Rome and the locations of the finalist cities
Not long ago the mayor Virginia Rages had declared that Rome would be the "perfect stage"For Eurovision 2022. Unfortunately, the Capital will not be able to organize the event because its candidacy dossier has not been accepted by theEuropean Broadcasting Union (EBU). According to the first rumors, the reasons behind the exclusion of Rome as a host city for theEuro Vision Song Contest 2022 would reside in the inadequacy of the venues proposed for the show. Rome would have proposed the Sports Hall, but non-compliant systems have led to the "No."Of the EBU. The same then happened with the alternative locations proposed by the Municipality, including Il New Congress Center, Cinecittà , New Fair of Rome.
As for the five finalist cities, theEBU , RAI (organizers of the event) are considering various options. Milano would have proposed the Palace of the Sparks as the venue for the singing contest, while the second choice would be that of Assago Forum. The Municipality of Bologna instead he would have proposed the Shovel Alpitour di Reno and Pavilion 37 di BolognaFiere. Rimini, Pesaro e Torino they would finally have proposed (respectively) the Vitifrigo Arena,Fair area and Shovel Alpitour. The name of the winning city, which will have the honor of hosting Eurovision 2022, may already be revealed within the first week of September. While some cities are left with a bad taste in their mouths, others are already daydreaming.
