Great news coming for the Lucca Comics & Games 2021, returned in attendance after the 2020 edition, with no participants due to restrictions from Covid-19. The 55esima edition of the most famous event dedicated to comics and videogames in Italy was born under the sign of Dante Alighieri. The title "To see the stars again"Is in fact a tribute to Supreme Poet of which occurs the 700th anniversary from death, but not only. It could also refer to the return of the "traditional" demonstration after the pandemic period. The Lucca Comics 2021 will take place from 29 October al 1th November and this year it will propose a new formula with an unprecedented section, that is Rock'n'Comics, which unites the world of comics to that of music. Among the most anticipated guests there will be Roberto Saviano, with his graphic novel "I am still alive", Leo Ortolani, Fumettibrutti, Zerocalcare, Igort and many others.
From Dante to the Unknown Soldier: the initiatives of Lucca Comics 2021
The Florentine poet, father of the Italian language, is the great inspirer of Lucca Comics 2021. This can be seen since the official poster of the event, which features a Dante drawn by Paolo Barbieri, former creator of the volume "Dante's Inferno illustrated"(Bonelli publisher). There will also be four panels dedicated to Great poet. Among these, one will be dedicated to the volume "The Comedy in the mirror of images"of Treccani, one at the "Mickey's Hell"of Guido Martina, one to "Inferno: Dante's Guide to Hell”, Dante's scenario of the game Dungeons & Dragons and, finally, one dedicated to "Hour of the Damned"of Luca Tarenzi, the awaited second volume of the fantasy trilogy that incorporates Dante's settings.
2021 is also the centenary of the transfer of the Unknown Soldier atAltar of the Fatherland From Rome. From 29 October to 2 November a historical train he will stop in various Italian stations, to recall the journey made by the body of the Unknown Soldier from Aquileia to the Vittoriano. Inside you will find a special wagon that it will propose to travelers auditory sensations e visual details, to take them back in time. At Lucca Comics 2021, 20 artists will re-propose this experience to visitors thanks to augmented reality. Finally, visitors will also be able to play in tournaments of Ticket to Ride, the game of Asmodee, dedicated to the Unknown Soldier and the train of memory.
Rock'n'Comics, exhibitions and Graphic Novel Theater
The most awaited novelty of Lucca Comics & Games 2021 is certainly the Rock'n'Comics, where music and comics come together in total harmony. Protagonists of this space, which provides live performance (music and comics) interviews and much more will be Caparezza, Pau (FR) (Paolo Bruni), frontman of the Bold type, who will present an exhibition of his paintings and drawings entitled "Pauhaus rock art gallery", But also i Lacuna coil e Shade.
Among the exhibitions, one of the most anticipated is "Will Eisner, the giant " dedicated to one of the most important graphic novel authors in the world. Equally interesting will be the retrospective on Teresa Radice and Stefano Turconi and exhibitions on James Bevilaqua and Walter Leoni, winner of the prize Changes 2020 as best newcomer. The exhibitions started on8 October al Palace of the Province and 22 October to the Banca Del Monte Foundation di Lucca. This year the Graphic Novel Theater, which since 2017 has always been very successful at Lucca Comics. This is the theatrical transposition of great Italian graphic novels. In this edition they will be staged The Oreste (To Francesco Niccolini e Andrew Bruno) to Corpicino at the theater - Black pages for black chronicles (To Thunder Pettinato). There will also be traditional ones stand with the authors and hundreds of cosplayer that have made this comic salon iconic.
Lucca Comics 2021 tickets are only available with online presale (from September 21th). Like any event, in order to access it will be mandatory to be equipped with greenpass. Finally, for security reasons, access to 15 areas of the comics salon is allowed only to a maximum number of 20 thousand people a day.
