Milan has its own Zen garden. A planning work that lasted about two months and here it is Piola square an area comes to life that brings a little bit of to Italy Japan. A redevelopment work promoted by No'hma Theater, with a dedication to its founder, Teresa Pomodoro, Milanese actress, director and playwright, who passed away in 2008.
A total of twenty-one flowering cherry trees give a dream atmosphere. The whole also bears the signature of the late artist Kengiro Azuma. All this alternates perfectly with sculptures and seats, providing a perfect example of coexistence between man and nature. A perfect balance that allows citizens and tourists to enjoy a corner dedicated to meditation. A real breath of fresh air compared to the stress that usually characterizes urban centers. A step forward in the wider redevelopment and enhancement project of green spaces that has seen Milan engaged for years. This time we opted for the magic ofJapanese hanami.

What to find in the Zen garden of Milan

To forget and set aside cars, scooters and electric scooters. The paco zen in Milan is a pedestrian path that aims to remove anyone from the disturbances of everyday life. A total of eleven benches were installed there. These are framed by cherry trees in bloom, all in a path with a particular shape. Everything unfolds, in fact, recreating the image of a drop. Something clearly visible by observing the garden from above with a drone. This is to recall water as an element of life.
The area is enriched with works by Kengiro Azuma, artist who died in 2016. Spazio Teatro No'hma has decided to donate them to the city of Milan. A total of five cylindrical steps, all of different heights, welcome Colloquio. A sculpture depicting two toads made of bronze, caught in the course of a conversation.
The other sculpture is titled MU - 765 Goccia. It is a tribute to the No'hma Theater, which has found space in the former drinking water building. A work that recalls the vocation at the origin of this local artistic project.

In Japan, cherry blossoms bloom from mid-March, the whole of Japan turns pink. This is due to the cherry blossoms, which bloom in every region and district bear the name of hanami. A phenomenon that has been part of culture for centuries, which leads to very precise analyzes. In fact, it is possible to know the exact day and time of the sakura (cherry trees) flowering. The flowers bloom and the show lasts for about 10 days. A daydream that will also be available in Milan thanks to the garden in Piazza Piola.
