A new museum opens its doors in Naples. It is about the Gallerie d'Italia of Intesa Sanpaolo. Everything is set up in the splendid building of the former Banco di Napoli located in via Toledo. Spaces tripled in the old headquarters of Palazzo Zevallos, with 10 thousand square meters of exhibition space and excellent standards.

Gallerie d'Italia: the collection

The permanent collection of the new museum of Napoli boasts approx 700 works. A journey that goes from archeology to the contemporary artistic world. The whole is distributed through three itineraries. On the first floor there are 145 paintings and sculptures from the southern area. From the seventeenth to the twentieth century. Visitors will be able to admire the works of great artists such as Caravaggio, , Luca Giordano and many others. There is also space for an important group of works by Vincenzo Gemito. This space is curated by Francesco Mazzocca, while the second level is curated by Fabrizio Paolucci.

For the first time, on this floor, the Attic and Magna Graecia pottery of the Caputi collection, with the addition of pieces from the MANN, national archaeological museum of Naples. The last level is curated by Luca Massimo Barbero. This area boasts works of the collection of modern and contemporary art. They range from the Fountain to Sol Lewitt, passing through Schifani, Burri and Paolini. The direction of the muzzle remains entrusted to Michele Coppola, Executive Director of Art, Culture and Historical Heritage of Intesa Sanpaolo. The excellent work in the past will continue and temporary exhibitions will be added to the permanent exhibition, as in previous years. A constantly updated cultural panorama not to be missed.
