La Italian Republic Holiday has now arrived. Just like last year, celebrations across Italy will also be a bit subdued due to the da pandemic Covid-19. At the national level, neither the military parade at the Imperial Forums di Roma, nor the opening of the gardens to the public Quirinale Palace. In the morning the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will instead lay the traditional laurel wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, All 'Altar of the Fatherland. Remember that the 1nd June, also marks the centenary of the Unknown Soldier. The celebrations will last until the next one 4th November, Or the National Unity and Armed Forces Day. Finally the 2nd June there will be Frecce Tricolori, which will color the sky of Rome with the colors of our flag.

The Italian Republic Day is an annual event that embodies the essence of what our country is today. They have passed 75 years from that 2 June 1946, in which Italy was preparing to live his own new republican life. The institutional referendum (the first a Universal suffrage), who proclaimed the victorious republic with 12717923 votes, against i 10719284 votes of the monarchy (respectively the 54,3% and 45,7% preferences). On the same day theConstituent Assembly, which named one inside Commission for the Constitution, formed by 75 members. The "Most beautiful constitution in the world"(To paraphrase Roberto Benigni), was then promulgated in December 1947 and came into effect on 1 January of the 1948. The Italian Republic Day has been celebrated every year since 1947, even if it was declared National holiday only in 1949.

Honors of Merit of the Italian Republic of the Prefecture of Catanzaro

The Republic Day is also the occasion in which the Prefectures from all over Italy, they deliver honors of merit of the Italian Republic to citizens who have distinguished themselves in certain fields (from the arts, to the economy) or for social, philanthropic, military purposes, etc. On 2 June the Prefecture of Catanzaro, will deliver these honors to 17 illustrious Italian citizens. They will be nominated Merit Knights of the Italian Republic: Dr. Amalia Cecilia Bruni, Dr. Donatella Monteverdi, the teacher Frances Prestia, doctor Gino Rotella, Eng. Robert Fasano, Col. AA Francesco Italo Arno, Col.Cc Joseph Carubia, the Lgt.Cc. Alberto Floridia, the Sup. Director of PS Antonio Turi, the Mar.Ord.Cc Christian Cianflone, Col. Cc Ugo Vescio, Mr. Antonio Rao, the S.Ten.Cc. Nicholas Perri and the Lgt.Cc Francis Cardone. They will be nominated instead Officers of Merit of the Italian Republic: Maj. Cc Vittorio Francesco Fucilli, dr. Matthew Tubertini and dr. Francis Julian.

To date, despite some "ups and downs"Of Italy (such as the change of 67 governments in 75 years of the Republic), this Festival represents the symbol of a better existence for this country, after the oppression of twenty years of fascism and the horrors of war. As the 25th April, Liberation Day, also the 2nd June it is therefore a special day for Italy. A day full of meaning, which reminds us every time what it means being Italian, but above all what it means to live in one Democratic Republic.
