THEorigin of myths always has something fascinating about it. If this is then narrated in a compelling and engaging way, without neglecting the historical component, then we are facing a successful experiment. All this is Romulus, the TV series directed by Matteo Rovere (former director of "The first king" of the 2019), with Enrico Maria Artale e Michael Alhaique, broadcast on Sky Atlantic and streaming up Now TV starting from 6th November last. The series consists of 10 episodes, the latter two of which will air the next 4th December. As the name suggests, Romulus is a TV series focused on the myth of foundation of Rome, on the civilizations that inhabited the lands of Lazio in8th century BC. and on the events that led to the story we all know, namely the birth of what will one day be the "Eternal City".

A successful project

With Romulus, Matteo Rovere returns to the themes already addressed in the film "The first king”, Centered on the story of Romulus and Remus. The new Sky TV series stands as a kind of prequel to the film. Like the 2019 film, in fact, Romulus is also starred in protolatin (but also available subtitled or dubbed in Italian). The actor's rehearsal of the protagonists, including, Sergio Romano (Amulus), Ivana lotito (Gala), Andrew Archangels (yemos), Francis of Naples (Wiros) e Marianne Fontana (Ilia) was really convincing, despite the difficulties of the language. The series is also very accurate from a historical point of view, thanks to thehelp from experts who worked on the project (anthropologists, archaeologists and linguists). No detail in the series is left to chance. The song of the theme song Shout (Tears for Fears), sung masterfully by Elisa, is then the icing on the cake of a TV series not to be missed.

Romulus is a ambitious project immediately proved to be a critical and public success. This is a clear sign of how theItaly is able to compete in the arena of large productions of US TV series (it has already been seen for example with Gomorrah e Suburra). The first season is winding down, but it is likely that audiences will soon be clamoring for the rest of the story.
