Smart working is an increasingly widespread reality. Working without an office, with the freedom of being able to travel all over Italy and the world, is an increasingly tempting prospect. Those who practice it and do not just stay within the walls of their homes fully fall into the category of digital nomads. Let's find out which areas they prefer in Italy.

Digital nomads in the South

During the pandemic, most of Italy experienced the advantages of smart working. Some professions may allow employees to work from home without having to go to the office. This represents an economic saving and, at the same time, gives greater serenity to the worker. He works in a peaceful and familiar environment, managing better to reconcile life and work, also avoiding the enormous waste of time in traffic between office and home.

There are those at the office who have been saying goodbye for some time, mainly thanks to the type of work they do. Operating on the web, in any sector, offers this chance. Live in the world and work differently, like a digital nomad. A very widespread phenomenon in Italy, which represents the future. The second report on digital nomadism in our country shows how Southern Italy contains the favorite destinations to work in peace and to live happier.

Smart Working - Digital Nomads

We can speak serenely of southworking. It all began with the return home of many professionals, once they had the chance to work from home. Nobody, or almost, would like to abandon the Southern Italy where he was born, but the absence of traditional work complicates things. However, if it is possible to operate on the web, the rules of the game change. There are those who decide to stay and those who move from one place to another, taking advantage of the beautiful landscapes and the milder climate.

Who are the digital nomads

The report explains how digital nomads, i.e. workers who work remotely, are mostly women. Their age varies from 25 to 44 years. The southern regions represent the favorite destination of 76% of the interviewees. However, this phenomenon poses another problem, namely the need for southern villages (in large cities this is already the case) to adapt their Wi-Fi networks to the growing demands.

To specify one difference between digital nomad and smart worker. The two concepts may coincide but this is not always the case. In the first case we are talking about those who work and decide not to have a fixed abode, taking advantage of the type of work done to change cities often, living life to the full. In the second case, however, the reference is simply to those who can carry out their work remotely, which often means doing it from a home office.
