Last October, the Italian theaters they were able to reopen with 100% of the capacity. A reopening that everyone, from national icons to village theaters, celebrated with joy. And with a little emotion. To the La Fenice Theater in Venice, among the most famous in the world, the reopening coincided with the return of opera.
Teatro La Fenice, the Fidelio chosen for the reopening
Il Fidelio, the only theatrical work made by Ludwig van Beethoven: this is the work chosen for the opening of the opera season at Teatro La Fenice. The first, which took place on Saturday 20 November, was broadcast in live streaming on the websites of la Repubblica, La Stampa and Huffington Post Italia. A historic occasion, since never before has a premiere of the famous theater been broadcast online. An opportunity that, in addition to bringing people closer to opera and therefore to ,, intends to celebrate the return to normalcy. Not only did the theater give everyone the opportunity to follow the Fidelio premiere: those who attended the show in person were welcomed by a new outfitting, directed by Joan Anton Rechi, sets by Gabriel Insignares, costumes by Sebastian Ellrich and light design by Fabio Barettin.
Furthermore, behind and inside the Fidelio the Teatro La Fenice wanted to insert a message. Or, better, an arm extended to children and women victims of violence. The protagonist of the show is indeed Ekaterina Bakanova. Ambassador of Italian Culture in the World for the European Parliament in Italy and Director of the Remind Culture Area, she dedicated the debut of Fidelio in the role of Marzelline to the rights ofchildhood. While, the representation on 25 November will be dedicated to countering the violence against women. “I believe it is necessary to raise awareness in the world of culture so that we all together echo these world days, to ensure that we can finally live in countries that are more respectful of young people and women and that the police and magistrates have the tools to intervene before tragedies occur" commented. To then conclude: "In my heart there are beats of love for Italy and it is my intention to live, work and raise my daughter in this great country".
The Venice Prize is back
Reference point for young pianists, the Venice Award returns from 23 to 28 November. Reserved for the best graduates in the country, and therefore for young people who are facing the difficult concert career for the first time, over the years it has crowned enormous talents. At the Chopin competition in Warsaw, this year there were two Italians among the finalists (the first in the history of the competition). And it is precisely from the Venice Prize that came: Alexander Gadjiev won the competition held by the Teatro La Fenice in 2013, Leonora Armellini in 2005.
The aim of the competition is to make the most prepared and promising graduates known to the general public, concretely helping them to take their first steps in the difficult career of concert performers. The first classified and the finalists receive scholarships and cash prizes for an amount of over 90.000 euros.
