The current owner is David DeStefano, which proudly manages a business founded in 1918, when the kiosk was called Bar Aquila and had eagle friezes and lictor beams typical of the Fascist period. At that time the restaurant only served coffee and sodas, while the gelato it arrived only in 1940, when the De Stefano family, taking over the business, transformed it into a laboratory of gelato artisanal focusing on the quality of local products; never betrayed principle that has always been a point of honor for the generations that have followed one another until today.

At that time the place only served coffee and sodas, while the ice cream arrived only in 1940, when the De Stefano family, taking over the business, transformed it into an artisan ice cream laboratory focusing on the quality of local products; never betrayed principle that has always been a point of honor for the generations that have followed one another until today. Refreshment from the heat wave, a simple snack, or a substitute for lunch, ice cream remains an indispensable delicacy.
That small initial green kiosk, despite having been standing there for a century, has come a long way, and it has done it with research, the desire to improve the product as much as possible, which over time has made fame and the satisfaction among regular consumers. Thus the first variegated flavors were born, new delicacies in tubs to choose from, and today the Cesare ice cream parlor produces a very high quality ice cream with noble ingredients such as milk, Piedmontese IGP hazelnuts, Bronte pistachios, Avola almonds, cocoa from Ghana, vanilla from Madagascar, Senga Sengana strawberries, and much more.
After the Gambero Rosso award that gave two cones, decreeing the ice cream of the De Stefano family as the best in Italy, also the city of Reggio Calabria on 4 September, will award the well-known ice cream shop with the "Sympathy Award of Calabria" for its 100 years of activity.
