Small houses in handcrafted masonry between small streets, where time seems to have stopped and peace and tranquility reigns there. A piece of Paradise among the most beautiful villages in Italy. We take you to the discovery of a small town in the Coast Amalfi, in a land where, as Goethe said, lemons bloom, which here have a special flavor and aroma. A few kilometers from the town of Vietri sul Mare is Albori, a land of colors and ancient traditions.

A site so characteristic that it is included among the Villages of Italy, the association which includes the most fascinating places on our peninsula. And this year Albori ranked fourth in the final ranking of the broadcast dedicated to the villages on the Raitre. Albori, whose name derives from the Latin word arbor, is therefore a very popular tourist destination. And we will explain why.

Albori and the way of ceramics

This village boasts an ancient artisan tradition linked to the processing of ceramics. Like Vietri and other municipalities in the area, there are several shops here. Places where small ceramic works of art are still made. In fact, it is easy to see the variegated majolica outside the houses. In these areas the ceramic craftsmanship developed from the Middle Ages. In fact, the ceramics of Vietri and other municipalities have been commercialized for a long time, also for its particular colors reminiscent of Islamic art.

And then fish-based dishes flavored with lemon juice, typical of this area of the coast, particular sweet and sour potato croquettes and good local wine. To visit instead the square in the center with the parish church dedicated to Santa Margherita di Antiochia, which dates back to the sixteenth century. Inside you can admire frescoes and stucco "tiles" with the mysteries of the Rosary and images of San Francesco di Paola. Downstream from the sea the Torre d'Albori with Cartiera. And then you can get lost among the handcrafted masonry houses. Characteristic are the white roofs of the houses with "lamia a vela", domed or "barrel lamia" vaults, the latter are found covering the warehouses.
