Perhaps the image that among the many others made Raffaella Carrà an icon of the Italian show is that of Tuca Tuca in Canzonissima 1971. The great show girl, a true one-woman show, turns 78 today, most of which passed on the stage that has seen her always juggle with great success cinema, television, music and theater. An all-round talent and popularity, queen of the great divas in Italy but also abroad, where she is perhaps the most loved and best known among the women of the Italian show business. Spain, Argentina, Chile, just to mention the most important, are the countries where it has been the protagonist of dozens of television programs. And it was Spain, where she arrived for the first time in 360, which served as a springboard for theLatin america. Here it has been equally successful.

Canzonissima and Raffaella Carrà's Tuca Tuca with Alberto Sordi

Raffaella Maria Roberta Pelloni was born in Bologna in 1943 to a Sicilian father and mother from Romagna, she lived up to eight years in Bellaria and had a great passion for TV from an early age. These are the years of the Musichiere, which she seems to like a lot. Perhaps even then he saw what TV would represent in his future. In those early years, however, his true passion was dance, and that is why he moved to Rome to attend the National Academy. In Rome, where she also attended the Experimental Center of Cinematography, she played, while still a child, small roles in some films.

In the sixties he changed his surname, from Pelloni to Carrà, like that of the famous painter. The great success comes at the beginning of the seventies with television, what will be its main stage in Italy and abroad. From there a very long series of triumphs will begin. Canzonissima from 1970 with the acronym But what music maestro!, 200 thousand copies sold. Very song 1971 and the tuca tuca. A very risque ballet for those times. It caused a scandal because Carra danced in a costume that left the navel uncovered. His Tuca Tuca together with Alberto Sordi is unforgettable.

Each program a song, Raffaella's great hits

They start the tours abroad and follow many other TV programs often marked by new songs of great success. Best wishes (famous is the refrain How beautiful it is to make love from Trieste downwards) acronym of the variety Ma che sera (1978). In 1982 it was the turn of the Ballo Ballo theme of transmission Fantastic 3 (with an average of 25 million spectators per evening). Since 1983, Carrà has also established herself as a conductor in Hello Raffaella.

Ballo Ballo, the musical dedicated by director Nacho Alvarez to this queen of variety

Raffaella Carrà, the queen of variety. In her being versatile she has been able to demonstrate in every experience an extraordinary professionalism that has accompanied her in an unstoppable rise, marking the history of Italian and international entertainment. A dazzling career, from which in 2016 he decided to retire to make room for new talents. This did not prevent that in 2018 Raffaella Carrà was awarded the Spanish honor of Dama "al Orden del Mérito Civil". And just a few months ago, last January, his extraordinary career was retraced into musical Ballo Ballo by the Spanish-Uruguayan director Nacho Álvarez. A tribute to Raffaella Carrà and all that the queen of variety has expressed in her long career. "A star with a magnetic charm", the director defined it in his interviews, who met him during his adolescence through some videos broadcast on TV. The soundtrack of Ballo Ballo traces the greatest successes of the Carrà.
