The designation of Naples as the headquarters of the 2019 Universiade represents an important opportunity, not only for the city, but also for Campania. Italy will showcase the city under Vesuvius, to promote its riches, showing a land image of culture and sports.
The Universiade in Naples
For the beginning of July, about eight thousand young people are expected, for the thirtieth edition of the University Olympic Games. In addition, around a thousand athletes will be accommodated in some hotels in Naples or Caserta. Of course, the accommodation of the athletes will respect the opportunity of the sports discipline practiced by the students. The facilities located throughout the regional territory will be taken into account.
Naples, hospitality and pizza for the Universiade
Athletes who will compete in Salerno or Caserta will be welcomed in the poles of competence. All this will ensure more comfortable and shorter journeys. The Fisu has very specific parameters in this regard, and the Neapolitan organization has respected them all, with an excellent structure in the starting blocks. All the hotels that will host the athletes will be four-star. From Naples, where the weather also includes beautiful sunny days, the message clearly arrives that the working group is ready and tested.
The Universiade are very much awaited by the warm Neapolitan citizenship, who can't wait to welcome the boys. From foreign delegations there is great anticipation and much enthusiasm in coming to Naples, for all the well-known folklore, culture, food and music. There will be an important advertising impact on the city and on the Region also in terms of tourism, since the event will be a driving force.
Costa Victoria and Costa Cruises
One of the most beautiful notes of color is the presence of Costa Victoria, the cruise ship that will welcome the first athletes on board. The Costa Crociere ship will be moored in the port of Naples until 16 July, fully belonging to the athletes' village of the sporting event. During the event, the Costa Victoria will host around 1,900 athletes and officials from 38 delegations around the world.
Among the nations represented there will be Italy, France, Germany, Japan, the People's Republic of China, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Australia, Russia. Athletes will be assisted on board by as many as 705 crew members. Throughout the Universiade, a kitchen brigade of 100 cooks and helpers will take care of preparing about 6,000 meals a day. The proposed menus will be made based on the Italian and Mediterranean culinary tradition and of course you cannot miss the pizza that everyone expects!

On board the cruise ship, athletes can use the gym and outdoor spaces, all available. The kids can work out on a sports field, a jogging path, and then they will also have a sauna and a Turkish bath.
All this naturally surrounded by the sea, with also a hair stylist. In addition to sport, on board there will also be entertainment with music, dance lessons, cooking, parties in the main areas of the ship and shows in the theater, in short, only the medals are missing and we hope many blue!
