Health Minister Roberto Speranza presented the Covid vaccine plan as it will be articulated in our country in the coming months. Certain rules to be able to vaccinate as much population as possible. The vaccine is in fact expected by many, but there will be no obligation. The population will be left free so that everyone decides whether to do it or not. The vaccines will be free.
The vaccine plan, the rules for the population
As Minister Speranza explained on the occasion of the group leaders' conference and then in the Chamber and the Senate, the vaccine plan should primarily consist of 202 million doses for Italy. They will be distributed in 300 points for the vaccination mass. These doses used as early as the first quarter of 2021. The vaccine tested by Pfizer and BioNTech will be used. It will arrive from the end of January.
The primacy of Italy in the vaccine plan
Not just the choice of the vaccine and the plan for the entire peninsula. But also the priority that our country has over others in the distribution of doses. In fact, Italy will be the first of the European countries to present the plan for the distribution of vaccines. At the presentation in Parliament, Speranza made it clear that between 23 and 26 January the 3,4 million doses produced by Pfizer and BioNTech will arrive. They will not, of course, cover the entire population, but only 1,7 million people. Furthermore, each dose, as the minister clarified "it needs recall and we don't know how much immunity there is".
Who can take advantage of the first doses
Hope also made it clear to whom the first doses of the vaccine will go. In fact, according to the indications on the vaccines plan, they will be distributed in 300 points for the vaccination of mass. Organize large spaces, such as fairs and gyms where you can vaccinate as many people as possible. And the army will also be involved in controlling the vaccination areas. But the priority, as announced several times, will be for medical and health personnel. Then the staff and guests of the RSA will be vaccinated, therefore fragile people. Then the elderly, over eighty, people between 60-70 years old. And then how many are essential workers. Another sector is that of the school.
No obligation for vaccines
The government's idea, as we had anticipated, was also that of monitoring the vaccinated population. In fact, the vaccine will not be mandatory at all, but the aim is to launch an awareness campaign for the population. Herd immunity with 40 million Italians vaccinated is the goal that the government wants to achieve in a short time.
And so, a year after the start of the pandemic, the goal expected by many of vaccination seems closer. It will not be easy to implement the vaccine plan. But the planning of all the necessary steps serves precisely to avoid arriving unprepared. By respecting the rules, then, we will continue to face the emergency also in this period.
