Trivento is one of the many treasures to be discovered in Molise, a region that knows how to amaze Italian and foreign tourists for its dominant uncontaminated nature. Beyond the well-known cities, there are however, between one valley and another, some dream villages that tell ancient stories. Trivento can only be a stop on your journey in this region, also considering its inclusion in the well-known race "Village of the villages”, Which saw him position himself in thirteenth place. Located in the province of Campobasso, Trivento boasts a historic center with less than 400 inhabitants. A very united community, which still lives today in the manner of its parents and ancestors.
What to see in Trivento
The first representative element of Trivento is undoubtedly its staircase. Well 365 steps, one for each day of the year. Several architectural monuments to admire, from cathedral al episcopal palace.
The first is dedicated to SS. Nazario, Celso and Vittore. Its construction dates back to the Paleo-Christian era. Apparently it was built on the remains of a temple dedicated to Diana. The bishop's palace, on the other hand, boasts an eighteenth-century chapel, in addition to the Hall of the Bishops, where the portraits of prelates from the thirteenth to the eighteenth century are kept. To admire also the archaeological remains in the city center and in the Eposcope Gardens. Beyond the individual visits, however, what anyone should do is get lost in the streets of the historic center.
Typical dishes

Myths and legends
Tradition has it that the name Trivento derives from the fact that it is exposed to the winds from the east, north and south. This is due to its own exposure. Located on a high hill, from where it dominates the the Trigno valley.
In its surroundings there are some caves carved into the rock. Locals call them "tomorrow"And are particularly deep. One of the best known is certainly the Morgia Pietrafenda. It has never been explored, which has allowed the proliferation of myths and legends over the centuries. Tradition has it that it is inhabited by elves. Much more concrete is the story relating to the Morgia dei Briganti, so called because in the nineteenth century it used to be exploited by brigands to find shelter. An ancient legend says that the foundation of Trivento is much older than that of Rome. It would have been the Samnites who gave it shape, and then saw the Romans and the population who later replaced the Capitoline Empire in the conquest of southern Italy take over.
