If mimosas are an important and recognized symbol in the world, March 8 has much more value than the floral tribute that today a bit everyone will do to the female sex. The best highlights this President of Republic Sergio Mattarella, which launched a message of great relevance, tremendously current, also speaking of the terrifying war in Ukraine.

March 8, the words of Mattarella

As usual, the speech of the President of the Republic was held at the Quirinale on the occasion of 8 March, or the International Women's Day, also known in Italy as Women's Day. Considering the dramatic condition that theUkraine suddenly finds himself living, due to the war unleashed by Putin's Russia, it was impossible for the representative of the highest Italian office not to express himself on the matter, launching a message of hope and a warning.

His words echo and are pregnant with meaning: "Our responsibility, as citizens and Europeans, calls us to a strong commitment to peace, so that the occupying forces withdraw and stop arms, so that international law is restored and national sovereignties are respected".

He explained how the worst of evils is indifference in the face of oppression. A concept that brings the memory back to Nazism and Fascism. Looking away, believing that everything that happens is far from your everyday life, is a real crime.

“This return to the back of history and civilization must be stopped immediately and decisively. Opposing, today, this drift of clashes and conflicts entails prices. It could cause costs to the economies of the countries that oppose it, but these would be far lower than those that would be paid if that drift were not stopped now ”.
