Covid, AIFA gives green light to the use of the Molnupiravir pill by Merck and the antiviral Remdesivir in therapy against the virus. Aifa announces that “the technical-scientific commission of the Italian drug agency, on 22 December last, authorized the two antivirals. These are Molnupiravir and Remdesivir, for the treatment of patients not hospitalized for Covid-19 with mild to moderate disease of recent onset. And with concomitant clinical conditions that represent specific risk factors for the development of severe Covid-19 ". The Merck drug is being distributed to the Regions as of today, January 4th.
The pill and the IV antiviral against the virus
The pill molnupiravir is an oral antiviral, authorized for distribution in emergency conditions by decree of the Ministry of Health of November 26 last. Its use is indicated within 5 days from the onset of symptoms. The duration of treatment, which consists of taking 4 tablets of 200 milligrams 2 times a day, is 5 days. The provisions of the AIFA were published on 29 December last in the Official Journal. For the prescription of the drug, a monitoring register will be used which will be accessible online on the website of theAifa.
regarding Remdesivir, the European Medicines Agency (Ema) has authorized “an extension of indication relating to the treatment of subjects not on oxygen therapy at high risk of severe Covid-19. The drug can be used for up to 7 days after the onset of symptoms. The duration of the treatment, which consists of intravenous administration, is 3 days ". Also for this new indication the use of a register of monitoring, accessible from today on the Agency's website.
Ffp2 masks at 75 euro cents
The price of the Ffp75 masks has been set at 2 euro cents. The commissioner for the Covid emergency, in harmony with the Ministry of Health and the Order of Pharmacists, has reached an agreement with the trade associations Federfarma, Assofarm and Farmacie united for the sale of protective devices for 75 cents each. Ffp2 masks are mandatory for shows open to the public that take place indoors or outdoors in theatrical halls, concert halls, cinemas, entertainment and live music venues and other similar venues.
And, again, they must be used if you attend sporting events, both indoors and outdoors. The Ffp2 are also used for travel by train, ship, plane and bus. Finally, these devices are mandatory for people who have had close contact with a Covid positive person and who, based on the rules in force, are not subject to quarantine but only to self-surveillance.
