Italy is not in the red zone, it was not for Christmas and it will not be for the New Year. All this provided that some rules are respected. This year a strict ban on celebrations, with controls scattered throughout the territory. A type of celebration at home was preferred, avoiding even in that case large dinners. It has been a month of tampons and it will continue these days, considering the dinners in sight and the departures. It is good, therefore, to try to clarify, underlining the rules for New Year's Eve 2021 facing Covid.

Covid, rules for the New Year

There is no curfew. An important change compared to 2020. You can go home at any time. The important thing will be to respect all the others Covid rules. No limitations to the freedom to move with your own means, going from one municipality to another and from one region to another, both in the white and yellow areas. For public transport, however, there is the obligation of the FFP2 mask.

New Year's Eve at home

As for the New Year at home, there are no limits on the number of people you can invite. Here are the words of Minister Roberto Speranza: “The government has raised the level of precautions. Holidays arrive, the days of Christmas and New Year, and it is important that individual behaviors are adequate: maximum attention, prudence, masks, hygiene and distance ”. We therefore rely on the common sense of the Italians. According to social media, many have taken the issue seriously, opting for tampons in pharmacies or household items, so as to be sure not to make their loved ones take risks.

New Year's Eve at the restaurant

Dinners outside the home are allowed. The classic New Year's Eve party is not at risk. There are, however, limits, of course. Anyone who wants to sit at the table must have the Super Green Passes. What does it mean? You will simply have to be vaccinated or cured of Covid (in possession of a dose). In no case, however, those who have simply received a negative result from the swab will be able to sit down. The same goes for drinks at the bar, if someone wants to meet up with some friends for a coffee or a spritz on the morning of the 31st.

New Year's Eve at the disco

The Government has decided to close the ballrooms, discos and similar venues from December 30th to January 31st. A total stop at those places where events, concerts or, in general, parties open to the public take place. You will be able to set foot in the disco again from February 1st. In that case, however, access will be limited to Super Green Pass holders.

New Year in the square

No categorical to the New Year in the square. All events, concerts and parties that involve gatherings in open spaces are prohibited. A measure taken into consideration even before the government decree by many cities. The celebrations for the arrival of the new year have worried all national administrations, fearing to kick off 2022 with a frightening rise in infections.
