La Val di Fassa is one of the main Dolomite valleys and is located in the north-eastern part of Trentino Alto Adige. Together with Val Badia, Val Gardena, the upper Valle del Cordevole and the Conca Ampezzana, Val di Fassa is part of Ladinia, the territory arranged around the Sella massif with Ladin linguistic identity. The Valley is crossed by the Avisio stream, a tributary of the Adige river, and includes six municipalities: Moena, Soraga, Sèn Jan di Fassa, Mazzin, Campitello di Fassa and Canazei. These countries are represented in the unofficial flag which bears the center i Ladin colors: blue, white and green.

Val di Fassa is a great one winter and summer tourist destination which is added to the list of meraviglie italian. Surrounded by Pale Mountains (Marmolada, Sella Group, Sassolungo Group and Catinaccio Group) is therefore located close to the suggestive Dolomite chain recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. The Valley attracts tourists and mountain enthusiasts all year round, offering various natural attractions for those who love holidays in the open air full of relaxation and sport.

The Dolomiti Superski Consortium

In the winter period, the Val di Fassa is one ski resort which is part of the Dolomiti Superski consortium. Founded in 1974, it is one of the largest and most important ski resorts in the world. Today the consortium includes 1220 km of slopes distributed among the provinces of Trento, Bolzano and Belluno. The Valley is therefore the ideal destination to spend one White week with family or friends, on skis or sledges. In your free moments it is possible to taste local gastronomic delicacies, such as cheese Stink of Moena, or indulge in a little relaxation in one of the many wellness centers. In addition, during the Christmas period there is never a shortage of markets. The one at high altitude of Campitello di Fassa (1448 m) was inaugurated in 2016, while that of Ortisei it is located in nearby Val Gardena.

During the First World War the Val di Fassa was on the line of the Italian-Austrian front. Even today there are evident signs of the war period such as war posts and visitable trenches. The Valley hosts one of the most popular via ferratas in the Dolomites. Along the route, open from June to October, rock enthusiasts will have the opportunity to pass through tunnels and tunnels up to 300 meters long.

Forget the car and… pedal!

In summer, Val di Fassa will make you forget the stress of driving and traffic. In fact, there are no unattainable destinations, thanks to the excellent public transport service designed for environmental sustainability. Thanks to Panorama Pass, from mid-June to the beginning of October it is possible to use the ski lifts without limits. The card includes everything: cable cars, gondola lifts, chair lifts, buses, taxis and shuttles. The Valley offers in the warmer months a wide choice of excursions to various refuges and Dolomite passes. Tourists can walk in the woods or climb the rocky walls, reaching the various alpine lakes. Famous is the Lake of fedara on the Marmolada, where popular legend has it that the shepherd Cimbolpìn was bewitched by the beauty of the fairy Kelina.

For the bicycle lovers there is the possibility of renting at the various E-Motion stations. In addition, cyclists can descend along the cycle path from Alba di Canazei to Molina di Fiemme, along the Avisio stream for about 48 km. No problem for the return: thanks to the bus service Bike Express all are brought back to the Valley. In conclusion, I am already preparing the suitcase and the mountain boots… what do you do?
