When did your interest in theater start?
Coming from a family of actors, like many other children towards their parents, for most of my adolescence I rejected the idea of following the family path. I went to great lengths to find something that was mine alone, that I really liked, because I didn't like the idea of doing something just because it would be easier and thinking that what I could build wasn't entirely my doing. I was good at mathematics, in high school I chose to do economics and then at university I chose Communication Sciences, I use social networks a lot and I am fascinated by the human mechanisms of conviction and persuasion.
In fact, I approached the cinema first than the theater. At 18 I was trying to be a model in Milan, for a series of circumstances I met a person who pushed me to try acting, so I started attending courses and studying. I realized that being in front of a camera that captures you in motion rather than a camera that creates static images was more satisfying, it allowed me to put myself into the game much more and that being able to express myself also through my voice was not for not bad.
I prefer film acting to theatrical one because I find it more natural, true. At the cinema you have a lens that captures every slightest movement of your face, every change of expression. The microphone captures every sound and often a whisper is much more emotionally powerful than raising your voice. It is like in reality. The theater, on the other hand, requires you to make the effort to get your voice to the last row of seats, the expressions must be marked to be seen several meters away. When you are on stage you can never forget that you have an audience for which you are performing, and this does not allow you (or at least does not allow me) to fully enter the situation that "your character" is experiencing.
In any case, the theater is a very important gym, it allows you to exercise your physicality, to move on stage synergistically with the other actors, moreover in the theater you must be able to act entire scenes without errors, there are no takes, it is always good the first. So for me it was a fundamental experience that formed me, as well as beautiful and fun.
Can you tell us the show you are acting in now?
The show I just finished is called "Beta hcg> 5", a complex name I know, but it is the pregnancy hormone, which becomes> 5 when you are pregnant. The plot is about these 3 couples, each with a particular story, who meet at a pre-birth course and are instructed by the obstetrician who teaches the course.
It is a comedy in which each character has a rather extravagant character, but addresses important social issues such as the economic difficulties that a couple today has to face in order to have a child, homophobia, the absence of a parent due to work commitments. and long-distance relationships, all in a context that at first highlights the human wickedness of judging the lives of others, and then overturns showing how it could all be easier if human beings helped each other. We did 6 dates at the Petrolini Theater in Rome, a historic theater where many Italian actors known today began their careers.
Do you also like cinema? Is there a movie you would like to play in?
Cinema remains my main goal, I continue to study a lot and I hope one day to be able to work on a high-level set, for a possibly long project and with professionals in the sector that I respect and admire. There isn't a particular movie I would like to act in, because the one I will act in doesn't exist yet so I don't know it, but I definitely have directors I would love to work with. Two contemporary directors that I really like are Paolo Genovese, his films have a direction and a screenplay studied so well that they keep me glued to the screen (Perfetti Sconosciuti is one of my favorite Italian films), and Gabriele Muccino, I know that he is one of the directors who most works and rehearses with his actors before starting shooting and always manages to bring out great emotions from them, I would be honored to be able to live a similar work experience and be guided by him.
You are also a model, you have traveled a lot, how much does this affect your way of acting?
Being a model, like any profession that allows you to always frequent new places and people, opens your mind a lot in my opinion. Meeting new people, talking to them, coming into contact with thoughts and cultures other than your own gives you new ways of seeing things, or at least makes you more versatile in understanding others and taking other points of view into consideration. For an actor this is very important because his job is precisely to identify with the life of another person, perhaps very different from him or even opposite. The character must never be judged, the actor must be able to understand him and give the audience an image consistent with that of a person who acts, thinks and speaks in a certain way. You have to really believe in it to do that, so you have to really identify with the character's ideals.
Do you have an important surname, Dario Fo and Franca Rame what grandparents were for you? In your first play, is there anything of their teachings that you put into practice?
My grandmother was the first to teach me how to act. One afternoon I was with her in the house, she gave me the script of a piece of her and told me "Let me hear how you would do it". So I recited it while she corrected me or gave me suggestions. She was also the first to tell me that the acting must be true, natural, that it must not be forced and over the top because it turns out to be a caricature and this ends up not doing justice to the piece you are playing.
Unfortunately, as I said before, in those years I was not inclined to learn the trade, so I never tried to absorb as much as possible. This is one of the few regrets of my life, perhaps the only one I have. In any case, I put this teaching into practice in my debut in the theater, essential to keep my character (which was quite over the top in the script) in the speck. I am certainly grateful that I have inherited good taste.
Can you tell us about “Wednesday Rock”?
Wednesday Rock is a part of my life linked more to my university career than to that of acting. It is a university party organized by the Roghers Staff, of which I am a part. It is a completely unconventional, fun, exaggerated, unpredictable environment. Within the group there are great minds, people who are good at their work, passionate, creative, ready to get involved and go out of their way to carry this reality forward. My role within the group is to manage social media, I am a social media manager, which is what I studied for! We also organize a music festival that takes place every summer, we are now in the ninth edition, it's called "Umbria That Splits".
Great artists always come and this year we have expanded by opening 4 stages (until last year we only had 2) and we are organizing various activities in the musical, artistic and creative fields. The intention of the festival (in addition to enjoying the concerts) is to promote our region, which we love and which has so many possibilities to offer and wonderful places, is full of history and art and culture. Then we also want to promote local talents, for this reason Umbrian bands will perform on the secondary stages, there will be DJ sets of the main Perugian evenings and everything is aimed at collaboration, inclusiveness, respect for the environment and nature. It is a side of my life that is very different from my cinematic dreams, but it is an aspect that I would never want to give up, they are my friends, my support, my outlet, and I must also say what often spurs me and me. it pushes me to believe in myself and to work hard to achieve what I really want.
