Bologna, 13 positions gained

In 2019, at the top of the list was Milano. Now it is Bologna the city where you live best. To draw up the ranking, the experts relied on 90 indicators with a strong emphasis on current events. Because, if it is true that the Il Sole 24 Ore survey has reached its 31st edition, it is also true that this is the first proclamation of a pandemic in progress. The capital of Emilia-Romagna triumphed in the general classification, beating Bolzano, Trento, Verona, Trieste, Udine, Aosta, Parma, Cagliari and Pordenone. Milan has slipped to twelfth position, eleven fewer than in 2019, while in last place we find Crotone. It was, needless to say, the pandemic that weighed. Indeed, among the new indicators, the number of Covid-19 infections per thousand inhabitants: Milan was (and still is) among the cities most affected by the Coronavirus, and this is largely affecting people's lives and the health system. Not only that: they have also lost positions city with a tourist vocation like Venice, Rome, Florence and Naples, whose economy has been heavily affected.

He also spoke to comment on the news Virginio Merola, mayor of Bologna. Who, interviewed by Corriere della Sera, explained: "I believe it is a confirmation of the work done in recent years by the city as a whole: today being first in the quality of life means having a good ability to Resilience. I think what works is to have consolidated the sense of community. Bologna is a city accustomed to cohesion, able to react ”.

Il Sole 24 Ore then examined some other aspects, useful indicators of economic situation in the various areas of Italy. Bolzano was in first place for the value of bank deposits of consumer households (28.872 euros), Milan for annual per capita income (28.894 euros), the province of Monza and Brianza for annual expenditure on durable goods (3.450 euros). Houses are on average more expensive in Rome and on average cheaper in Avellino, Crotone has the highest number of unemployed students, Milan the highest number of thefts. What Il Sole 24 Ore photographs is a varied, changing reality profoundly marked by the pandemic. A reality that, in 2021, is destined to change even more.
