The Genoa waterfront will change its appearance thanks to the project by Renzo Piano. These will redesign the whole area of the former Fair, proposing a green approach able to wink at the future, which must necessarily take into account the needs of our planet. The mayor Marco Bucci spoke about this, explaining how the project also includes a totally green area, which will be called "Park of the Foce".
Specifically, the Levante Waterfront includes the following elements, in order to "return the sea to citizens":
- urban park
- new dock
- residences
- offices
- student residence
- retail
- apart-hotels
- Palasport
Genoa, green area on the seafront
The "Parco della Foce" is one of the most important elements of the project. A new green lung for Genoa and, at the same time, a common area to improve the quality of life of citizens. It will extend over a total area of 65 thousand square meters. Wanting to analyze this from a practical point of view, he will go from the initial part of Corso Italia to Forte Stella - piazzale Kennedy (included). Inside there will be 4 thousand trees, approximately.
Bucci said he was enthusiastic about the initiative, underlining how Genoa will have the record for the green part and not just an eco-sustainable point. The first citizen expressed himself during the Boat Show, which ended on 21 September last. He promised that on the occasion of the 2022 edition of the event, the works for the canals will be completed. The speech is different with regard to the buildings. In this case, construction will end in 2023. Instead, we need to turn our gaze to 2024 as regards the Pilots Tower and the Casa della Vela.
Lungomare di Genova, other projects
The plan is quite vast and intends to lend a hand to citizens from various points of view. The two projects of the parking in piazzale Kennedy, single-storey basement with capacity between 1000 and 1200 cars. There is also space for the lift that from Carignano and Corso Aurelio Saffi will allow you to descend to the level of the new Parco della Foce. There will also be a student hostel and a hotel. One way to make this place liveable all year round and at any time.
The work will be developed by RPBW e REV, exploiting an area of approximately 115 thousand square meters. The basic idea is to proceed with a transformation of the rear of the port, making it an urban front on the sea. Thus, east and west, Corso Italia and Porto Antico, city and sea reconnect.
The various lots
The approach follows the strategy "Nearly Zero Energy Building”, Which is based on the synergy of the natural components that make up the area. In this case: sea, sun and wind. All by favoring renewable sources.
There will be a division into lots, which will follow the following scheme:
- Lot 1: restoration of the Palasport, now unusable. It will be approved by Coni, so as to return the Serie A of all indoor sports and, at the same time, to host major events, concerts and shows of various kinds;
- Lot 2: student residence and residence-hotel
- Lot 3: common areas (15 thousand square meters)
- Lot 4: tertiary building
- Lot 5: Tree lined boulevard
