Lodè sounds like a magic formula, and perhaps something close to the mystical, and the spell is in that village medieval mountain; Sardinian wonder, or a place where time passes slowly, nestled at the foot of Monte Calvario, in the upper Barony.

Praise

A village rich in history, largely interwoven with ancient popular traditions, to preserve an intact historic center, which goes well with natural beauties such as Montalbo. Enchanting is the Tepilora Natural Regional Park, with the waters of which it is rich.
The del Rio Mannu, and the Sos Golleos waterfall. The houses in the historic center of Lodè are built with the typical stones, decorated with the characteristic wooden balconies; the same material used for the huts of the shepherds, sos pinnettos, still present in the countryside.

Beautiful and full of religious spirit, are the churches, some of which date back to the Middle Ages, like that of the patron saint, Sant'Antonio da Padova. The church of Su Rimediu, de Sa Purissima, of San Giovanni Battista, and the church of Sa Itria, of the Vergine d'Itria from the 800s are also ancient. In addition, the church of S. Anna is suggestive, which has many devotees.

Lodè and the nuraghe and the domus janas

Part of the Natural Park of Tepilora, Sant'Anna and Rio Posada falls within the territory of the municipality of Lodè; which includes the Sant'Anna forest complex, Montalbo with scrub and forest of holm oak and strawberry trees and part of the state-owned forest of Usinavà. There are ancient high forests of holm oak and Mediterranean scrub.

To visit the nuraghe Sa Mela, on Monte Prana, and some tombs of giants and several domus de janas; that the inhabitants call sas calas'e sos naneddos, that is the small caves of the dwarves. From up there you can see the foundations of the ancient villages of Sos Lothos and Thilameddu.

For trekking lovers we recommend a visit to the Tepilora Park, with paths immersed in the woods. From above you can enjoy the view of the sea (from Tavolara to Cala Gonone). Archaeological evidence dating back to the Neolithic, indicates the remote origins of the town, and the oldest documents written on the village date back to around 1100.

The Montalbo

The community of Lodè is closely linked to religious rites that have been handed down intact for centuries. On 16/17 January we celebrate Sant'Antonio Abate, much venerated. On the first day, the children go from house to house to receive fruit, sweets and “sos calistros” as gifts.

Very suggestive are the rites of the Holy week, such as the tradition of "S'Iscravamentu" followed by the procession, with the statue of the "Dead Christ". As in almost all the villages of Sardinia, Lodè also has numerous varieties of bread, and many dishes are the basis of this food.

"Su coccone" with a sweet consistency, "Sa simula", "SOS calistros"," On bread a trocheddu or carasau"; sheet of thin bread e crispy, which can be consumed in a medium-long time. There is also “Sas Cozzulasa” whose compound can vary, or “de ricottu” (with ricotta) or “de gheda” (with small pieces of meat and lard); we are not surprised by the longevity of the praise.

It is a bread dough with melted cheese on top; "Sas gathasa " pancakes made with bread dough, water, yeast and brandy. "About cocconeddu chin s'ovu ”whose shape can vary (braid, hen, handbag), is prepared at Easter for children.

Sardinian pasta

Typical sweets of Lodè are the "Orugliettas", made with very thin egg puff pastry and covered with a light layer of honey. We also have the "sos amarettos", biscuits made of almond paste, and the "orange juice", Crunchy made of sweet almonds, and orange peel; and small pieces of wheat bread dough, "Graneddoso". Among the traditional recipes we also find “Sa manicatura” with pork ribs, potatoes, cabbage, onion and chickpeas or sheep meat, potatoes and onion. "Su pane vratau" it is cooked with several layers of carasau bread soaked in hot water and salt, with sauce and grated pecorino on top.
