«The solution now is to stay still. Stay still, get out as little as possible. Only go out if there is a real need. It is two months. Two months and we are over there, because then the good season arrives ". In his appeal to On Tuesday, aired on La7 last 9 March, virologist Ilaria Capua underlined how the minimization of mobility could be an effective solution to stem the problem of Covid-19 in Italy. To the tenant's question John Floris on the need for a new one national lockdown, the virologist then replied: "It is not necessary. I am an optimist. Il vaccine is working wonders and we must believe it. We have to grit our teeth until we have a good percentage of the frail population vaccinated. At that point the hospitals will empty and everything, almost as if by a miracle, will return in the right direction».

Virologist Ilaria Capua: Covid-19 in other countries stopped with extreme measures

During the transmission of La7, the virologist Ilaria Capua then recalled the difficulty of fighting the virus. In particular, the professor focused on how the Covid-19 has been slowed down only by the countries that have applied drastic measures: "It's not that we didn't stop the virus rush, nobody succeeded, if not the countries that have applied extreme measures. Other than the people in Italy who complain about the restrictions on one's freedom! The same goes for countries that have a particular situation, such as the New Zealand. We try to make comparisons with our neighbors. The vulnus of this tragedy is that at the beginning no one believed in it and therefore time was wasted ".

As repeated on several occasions by Capua, what she herself called the "vaccine miracle". Unfortunately the recent ones problems with AstraZeneca and withdrawal of some lots in Italy and in other European countries, could further slow down the times for administration. On the other hand, theEMA has just given the green light to commercialize the vaccine Johnson & Johnson. Within the next 3th April, Italy should receive the first 6,5 million doses (from the 7,3 million doses originally planned). Being single-dose, therefore without booster, this new drug could be very important for the vaccine plan. If we add to this that in the second quarter, between Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Modern e Johnson & Johnson Italy will receive a total of 36,8 million doses, the miracle so hoped for by the virologist Ilaria Capua and by the whole of Italy could also be achieved by the end of the summer.
