The 74th Republic day must necessarily do without major public events. As required by security measures against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. However, that of June 2 remains a celebration which, even if only virtually, stands as a “sign of unity, solidarity and recovery”. An important moment to rediscover national pride in a country fatally wounded by the pandemic.

The Frecce Tricolori on the skies of Italy

The Tour of Italy of the National Acrobatic Patrol starts today, May 25th. In the next 5 days it will touch many regional capitals, from one end of the peninsula to the other. The National Acrobatic Patrol is planning a real tour of the Italian skies that wants to be a symbolic embrace to the whole nation.

Flying over Codogno, first red zone of the Covid-19 emergency

Today the aerobatic patrol takes off from Rivolto, home of the Frecce Tricolori, to go and make the first flight over Codogno, the Lombard town that was the first ‘red zone’ hit by the Coronavirus pandemic. After Codogno, it will be the turn of Piazza Duomo in Milan, another symbol of the Covid-19 emergency that has indelibly marked Lombardy and the whole country. The acrobatics of the first day will also fly over the skies of Turin and Aosta.

The Frecce will also fly over Loreto, where the homonymous sanctuary of the Virgin patron of the air force is located. This tour also includes flights over Ancona, Bologna, Venice and Trieste.

The Frecce will fly over the capital on June 2nd

The aerobatic flights will end on the sky of Rome on June 2, Republic Day. Also for the restrictions imposed by the measures to combat the spread of Covid-19, this year no parade of the Armed Forces along the Imperial Forums is expected.
